module 1
Understand the 8 changes that have the greatest implications for your work as an instructor. For each change, you’ll learn what happens and how it impacts physical activity. Having this knowledge will help you appreciate the rationale for the guidance in modules 3 and 4.
module 2
The changes you learn in Module 1 can lead to various pre & postnatal pains & injuries (and the guidance you give your members can go a long way in helping them prevent these issues, or potentially exacerbating them). We want to make sure you do the former! So, we’ll discuss the 4 most common pains injuries — Low Back Pain, Diastasis Recti, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, and SI Joint Pain — including what causes them, how to spot them, how to help mitigate them, and why they are NOT exclusive to your pre & postnatal members.
module 3
With the context from Modules 1 and 2, now we’ll pull this information together into some coaching tips that will enable you to confidently provide your pre & postnatal members a safe and effective workout. This module covers tips to focus on — emphasizing simple strategies that have the biggest impact. You’ll see how nearly all these strategies benefit every single person in class.
module 4
This module covers what to modify or avoid by trimester, and why. Because every individual is different, you’ll also learn simple tools you can use to help your members make the best choices for their bodies. In addition, because so many of the modifications are for core exercises, this module closes by teaching you core exercises that are highly beneficial for your pre & postnatal members (and everyone else in class too), so you’ll have plenty of core exercise alternatives to offer your pre & postnatal members (besides Bird Dog!).
module 5
The final module provides additional resources to further support you, including:
module 6
After the 4 learning modules above, there is a 50-minute timed exam that you take at home on your computer or device. There are 35 multiple choice questions, and you must get an 85% (30 questions correct) to pass. You can use any notes you want, but you must complete the exam within the 50 minute time limit.

The concepts are applicable for most non-aquatic group fitness formats (including HIIT, strength & conditioning, barre, boxing, cycling, rowing, running, yoga, and more). In general, we teach you guiding principles that can be applied to any format, but we also give examples of how you might apply them in the formats listed above as well.
If you are a Pilates instructor, we have a Group Instructor Course specific to this format. Check out our Pre & Postnatal Pilates Instructor Course.
No. If you wish to teach a class that’s specific to the needs of pregnant or postpartum bodies, then you would want to take our Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist Course, which is a much more in-depth and comprehensive education that focuses on specific training strategies that are unique to this population.
This course is designed for group instructors who simply want to understand the basic cues and modifications to help participants have a safer and more effective experience in class. It focuses on only those concepts that can easily and realistically be applied in a group fitness setting.
If you plan to work one-on-one with pre and postnatal clients, then you should take the Pre & Postnatal Fitness Specialist Certification, as this Group Instructor Course will not prepare you to work one-on-one with clients.
After taking the Certification, if you feel you need additional help in determining how to apply some of the concepts in a group fitness setting, then you can certainly take this course as well because the concepts are specific to group fitness.

Payment plan options are available through Affirm for U.S. credit cards. Payment plans are personalized based on your credit score. Therefore, you will be asked to provide some very brief information to check your credit score. Note, this process is considered a soft credit check. It does NOT impact your credit score. You’ll be able to see your monthly payments and total payment (including interest if any). Then you can decide whether you want to proceed, and if so, which payment option.
Having Trouble?
If you are unable to use Affirm, we can set you up with a payment plan through ProNatal. For more details on this option, please email info@pronatalfitness.com or give us a call at 516-778-9468.
